Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald Statement on the Sentencing of Colin Gray for His Role in the Apalachee High School Shooting in Georgia
“No sentence can bring back Mason Schermerhorn, Christian Angulo, Richard Aspinwall, or Cristina Irimie. We must never forget their loss or their heroism in protecting others on September 4, 2024. Colin Gray's 15-year sentence holds him accountable for his actions that directly led to the Apalachee High School shooting. However, accountability is only a starting point. Gun violence is the leading cause of death for young people in America. We owe it to our children to do more to address this public health crisis in the same way we've successfully addressed other public health risks, such as auto safety and smoking. We owe it to the victims of gun violence to finally say, enough is enough.” – Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald
