Community Engagement and Volunteering
Oakland County Parks is focused on environmental leadership, action and practice in the community. Staff is available as a resource for local governments and the public to advise in their areas of expertise and assist homeowners, municipal employees, non-profit organizations and educational institutions in implementation of best practices.
Our community engagement efforts include:
- Aquatic Invasive Species Cleaning Stations

- Community Habitat Improvement Grant Program

ECHO - Early Childhood Hour Out

Parents, grandparents, nannies and caregivers: Bring your little ones to the nature center for a caregiver-guided hour of activities, fun and friendship with local families.
- Participate in a caregiver-led activity provided by nature center staff
- Enjoy coffee, tea and conversation with other caregivers
- Strengthen community connections –conversation for adults; social interaction for babies, toddlers and young children
- Optional activities may take place outside, dress for the weather

- This program is free and no preregistration is necessary
- Park entry is free for Oakland County residents
- Caregivers must supervise children at all times
