39 Reading Specialist Lamphere High School A committed volunteer from an early age, from helping clean county and state parks to delivering food baskets to less fortunate families, Amy Schroder has brought that same passion to her career as a reading specialist with the Lamphere School District in Madison Heights. Working with kids who need extra help with reading skills, Schroder plays an integral part in building the confidence of her students while encouraging them to stay positive in the face of academic and social challenges. She supplies students with supplies, coats, hats and gloves and works to secure county, state and federal grants that will help the students in the district. Outside of teaching, Schroder is the president of the Madison Heights Youth Assistance program, which puts on local events and helps send kids to camps, classes and support programs. She received a bachelorÕs degree in teaching from Wayne State University and a masterÕs degree from Oakland University and has volunteered with Forgotten Harvest and Good Fellows.
