38 Executive Director Berkley Downtown Development Authority Through his work with the cities of Pontiac and Berkley, Mike McGuinness believes positive, enduring impact starts through a collaborative approach. In Pontiac, McGuinness is currently the city council president where he presided over the unanimous vote in favor of reconfiguring the Woodward Loop around the downtown area as well as helping develop a plan for millions of dollars in American Rescue Plan Act projects. In Berkley, McGuinness is serving as the executive director of BerkleyÕs Downtown Development Authority where he organized the inaugural Berkley Pride Parade, created the Berkley Block Party Series and launched the BOO!KLEY Halloween celebration. From 2017 to 2022, he was the president of the Pontiac School Board. In that position, McGuinness supported the successful elimination of the districtÕs structural deficit He also served as the Pontiac Arts Commission chair where he founded the Pontiac Arts Crawl and recruited community artists to paint murals in blighted areas. McGuinness is also the executive director of Oakland CountyÕs Historical Society, which is 145 years old.
