32 Director of Security Detroit Zoological Society Building a culture of safety and security, Sarah Whitt protects animals, staff, volunteers and more than 1 million visitors every year at the Detroit Zoo. As the director of security, Whitt safeguards both the Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Center. She is an advisor to the security committee of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and develops resources and best practices for zoos, aquariums and botanical gardens across North America. Whitt also serves as the vice chair for the zoo and aquarium community on the Cultural Safeguard Alliance.
