Oakland County’s plan to house about 600 employees to offices in downtown Pontiac is progressing but a lot of work remains before the move happens.
That’s the word from Sean Carlson, one of the county’s five deputy executives. He is overseeing the project.
It started last summer with Oakland County offering property owner and real-estate developer Tarik Dinha, $19.2 million to to buy Ottawa Tower I, 5111 Woodward Ave.; Ottawa Tower II, 31 Judson St., the former General Motors office building; and four adjacent parcels of land all located inside the Woodward Loop between Orchard Lake Road and Judson Street. The county also assumed the Phoenix Center parking garage lease, which includes an amphitheater on the top deck.
