WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. - On Friday, August 16, 2024, Oakland County Prosecutor KAREN D. McDONALD charged 25-year-old Joshua Charston Brown-Hill with three counts of 1st Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct.

These charges stem from a series of incidents alleged to have occurred between June 1, 2024, through and including August 15, 2024. During the early morning hours of August 15, 2024, an officer on routine patrol came across the defendant and the 12-year-old victim in a vehicle outside of a former elementary school site in West Bloomfield Township. It is alleged that the defendant was aware of the victim's age.

"I commend the diligence of the West Bloomfield officer who saw and intervened in this crime," stated Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald. "Those who target children will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

The defendant was arraigned in August 16, 2024, before Magistrate Julie Nelson-Klein. The Court set bond at $2 million, no 10%. A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 29, 2024 at 10:00 am before Judge Marc Barron and a Preliminary Examination is scheduled for September 5, 2024, at 10:00 am. The defendant remains at the Oakland County Jail.

1st Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct is a felony punishable by life imprisonment or any term of years, with a mandatory minimum of 25 years imprisonment and lifetime electronic monitoring.

Charges are accusations and individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
