PONTIAC, Mich. - On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Oakland County Prosecutor KAREN D. McDONALD issued additional charges against Logan Joseph Sutherland, a 21-year-old resident of Waterford. These charges are in connection with a series of cases involving the defendant and multiple underage victims.

It is alleged that the defendant used his position as a trusted adult to sexually abuse young boys. Combined, the defendant faces eight felony charges, including four counts of 2nd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, three counts of Aggravated Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material, and one count of Child Sexually Abusive Activity. The incidents associated with the current charges span years. In all of the instances, it is alleged that the defendant sexually assaulted and took inappropriate and explicit photos of the minors. Sutherland was arrested on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, and is currently being held at the Oakland County Jail on previously issued charges.

“This defendant took advantage of vulnerable children and parents,” stated Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald. “I applaud the immense bravery of those victims who have come forward. Sexual assault cases, particularly involving children, are among the most traumatic cases my office handles. These cases are being handled by a dedicated Assistant Prosecutor with my office’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) and we are devoted to working to secure justice for the victims, their families, and the community.”

2nd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct is a felony punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment and requires lifetime electronic monitoring upon parole, mandatory AIDS/STD testing, and DNA to be taken upon arrest. Child Sexually Abusive Activity is a felony punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment and/or a fine up to $100,000. Aggravated Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material is a felony punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment and/or up to a $50,000 fine.

Charges are accusations and individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
