PONTIAC, Mich. - On Friday, December 27, 2024, Oakland County Prosecutor KAREN D. McDONALD charged Malik Letroy Webb, a 29-year-old resident of Flint, with 19 felony charges in connection with a fatal shooting in Oxford. Webb is charged with Felony Murder, three counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, Carjacking, nine counts of Felony Firearm, third offense, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, and three counts of Felonious Assault.

These charges in this case involve seven different victims during a series of incidents that all happened in rapid succession. The incidents occurred on December 24, 2024, at approximately 6:20 pm. It is alleged that the defendant pulled into a parking lot near the corner of M-24 and Oakwood and struck a wooden pole before backing up, nearly hitting another car, and then striking the pole again. Two individuals, a 28-year-old female and a 54-year-old female, asked the defendant if he was okay, and he responded by pointing a handgun at them. The defendant then drove south on Lapeer Road. Two different individuals, a 71-year-old female and a 38-year-old female, were driving together when they observed a car that had crashed into a tree and stopped to see if the driver was okay. The defendant allegedly ran up to the driver’s side of the victim's car and tried to get in their vehicle. The driver attempted to drive away before the defendant began shooting into the vehicle, striking both the driver and the passenger. Another individual, a 39-year-old female, was driving down the road and saw a car in a ditch and turned around to check on the vehicle. When the individual stopped their vehicle, the defendant allegedly pointed a handgun at her head and demanded the keys to her vehicle and also told her to get in the vehicle with him. She ran away as the defendant tried to drive away with her vehicle but was unable to do so. As the victim ran towards another car, she heard multiple gun shots. A separate vehicle with two individuals, a 56-year-old male and a 54-year-old female, was driving down the road and saw a vehicle in the ditch and another parked in the roadway. The driver slowed down to see if anyone needed help when the defendant walked up to the victim’s truck and said that people were hurt and needed help. The defendant then climbed onto the truck’s driver’s side running board stating that he was lost and needed help getting somewhere. The defendant allegedly pointed a gun at the driver and began trying to open the rear door of the vehicle. The driver was shot in the arm but was able to get away after prying the defendant from his vehicle. The 71-year-old female and the 38-year-old female were transported to the hospital and the 71-year-old female ultimately died. Deputies responded to the scene and took the defendant into custody of the Oakland County Jail, where he is being held without bond.

“This was a senseless murder and rampage, terrorizing seven different victims. I have authorized the highest possible charges, and my office will fight vigorously for justice for these victims,” stated Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald. “While this appears to be a random shooting, it is devastating for our entire community, even more so because it happened during the middle of the holidays. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”

Felony Murder is a felony punishable by life imprisonment without the possibility of parole and requires DNA to be taken upon arrest. Assault with Intent to Murder is a felony punishable by life imprisonment or any term of years and requires DNA to be taken upon arrest. Carjacking is a felony punishable by life imprisonment or any term of years and requires DNA to be taken upon arrest. Felony Firearm third offense is a felony punishable by a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison to be served consecutively to the penalty for the underlying felony and requires mandatory forfeiture of the weapon or device. Carrying a Concealed Weapon is a felony punishable by five years imprisonment and/or a fine up to $2,500 and requires mandatory forfeiture of the weapon or device. Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person is a felony punishable by up to five years imprisonment and/or a fine up to $5,000 and requires mandatory forfeiture of the weapon or device. Felonious Assault is a felony punishable by four years imprisonment and/or a fine up to $2,000 and requires DNA to be taken upon arrest. 

Charges are accusations and individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
