PONTIAC, Mich. - Oakland County Prosecutor KAREN D. McDONALD has charged two individuals with back-to-back crimes.

In the first incident on January 10, 2025, Arthur Crayton, a 25-year-old Pontiac man, allegedly robbed a coworker of $12,000 in cash.  Crayton is charged with Larceny in a Building.  Shortly thereafter, as he was leaving the scene, Crayton allegedly contacted an acquaintance, Jamarieai Burns, a 30-year-old resident of Pontiac, for a ride. 

When Burns showed up, he allegedly took roughly $4,000 of the stolen money from Crayton, and then allegedly shot Crayton in the right hip.  Burns is charged with Assault With Intent To Murder, Armed Robbery, and three counts of felony weapons charges. 

Burns had previously been convicted of armed robbery, was on parole, and was prohibited from carrying a firearm. 

“The victim will be prosecuted for his own alleged crimes, but those crimes don’t justify what happened to him,” stated Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald. “Jamarieai Burns is a repeat offender. We intend to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law. Every victim is this case in entitled to justice.” 

Crayton faces up to four years in prison for the Larceny in a Building charge. Burns faces up to life in prison for the Assault With Intent to Murder charge.

Charges are accusations and individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
