Pontiac, Mich. – Oakland County Executive Dave Coulter released the following statement about U.S. Sen. Gary Peters, a resident of Oakland County, Mich., announcing his plans today not to seek re-election in 2026:

“Through decades of public service at the local, state and federal level, my friend U.S. Sen. Gary Peters has demonstrated exceptional integrity and compassion for the residents of the state of Michigan. I have always appreciated his extraordinary sense of duty in the military and in elective office and know that being a true public servant is what defines him.”
