PONTIAC, Mich. - Oakland County Prosecutor KAREN D. McDONALD charged an unnamed 16-year-old suspect in the stabbing of a 15-year-old at Avondale High School in Auburn Hills on February 4, 2025. The suspect is presently detained at Children’s Village.  Because all involved are juveniles, the Prosecutor’s Office is not releasing their names at this time.

This incident began as a fight between two students in a school bathroom. During the fight, the victim was stabbed multiple times, including in the leg. A kitchen knife was later discovered in the bathroom.

"This incident is unacceptable. My top priority is ensuring kids feel safe at their school,” said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald. “I’m grateful the victim is recovering. This situation could have been much worse for all involved. The accused assailant, who is just 16, will face serious consequences that hopefully serves as a wake-up call.”

The suspect is charged with Assault With Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder, Weapons - Carrying Concealed, and Weapon-Free Schools-Possessing Weapon. If adjudicated, he will be subject to the jurisdiction of Family Court.

Charges are accusations and individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
