PONTIAC, Mich. - Oakland County Prosecutor KAREN D. McDONALD charged Terrell Simms, a 39-year-old resident of Oak Park with Second Degree Murder, two counts of Felony Firearm, Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, and Weapons - Carrying Concealed.

On March 9, 2025, at approximately 1:45 am, Ferndale Police responded to a report of a traffic accident to find the victim, a 26-year-old Door Dash driver and resident of Detroit, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly before 4:00 am. Based on traffic camera footage, an investigation determined the victim had been attacked while driving to make a delivery.

"This is a shocking, seemingly senseless crime and my heart goes out to the victim's loved ones," said Prosecutor McDonald. "I want to applaud the Ferndale Police and the ATF for working together to identify and apprehend this suspect. Our communities are safer for their efforts. I believe we will be able to get justice for this victim because of their good work."

Second Degree Murder is punishable by life or any term of years in prison. Felony Firearm is punishable by two years in prison, served consecutively with any other sentence. Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm is punishable by up to five years in prison. Weapons - Carrying Concealed is punishable by up to five years in prison.

Charges are accusations and individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
