Phase 1 of North Telegraph Road Stormwater Project Nears Completion

The first phase of the stormwater improvement project along North Telegraph Road on the Oakland County Campus in the City of Pontiac is nearly complete. The road is expected to fully reopen to traffic later this month.
The project replaced an 18-inch pipe beneath Telegraph Road near County Center Drive with a large concrete drainage structure, nearly 8 feet wide and 4 feet tall. The larger structure will allow more room for stormwater to flow beneath the road during heavy rain, helping reduce the risk of flooding.
After the road reopens, crews will also add native plants to the existing wetland area to help improve nearby water quality and capture and store stormwater. This work will not affect traffic and is expected to be completed in early November.
This is Phase 1 of a larger project to improve stormwater management and water quality on the Oakland County Campus. Read the initial project announcement for more information about the work and funding.
